The article mentioned that the wealth management sector has so far been largely immune from the credit crunch and recessionary fears. This is based on results from research conducted by ComPeer, which was sponsored by Advent Software, a provider of software and services to the global investment management industry.

The research involved an online survey of wealth professionals completed in partnership with WealthBriefing.

Key results from the research were that clients do have a cautious outlook, with demand for cash based products, capital protection and alternative investment advice significantly increasing over the last six months. Industry data from ComPeer shows a gradual fall in the level of new investment business in the second half of 2007, although the wealth managers have maintained a healthy level of growth. Over 50% of the participants in the online survey also predicted that demand for discretionary investment management will incresae during 2008.
