The fourth quarter of 2008 saw overall revenues for wealth management companies increase by 4.4% quarter-on-quarter despite investment assets falling by 6.8%. ComPeer suggests in the article that although assets are falling, individuals have been recently viewing the market as a buying opportunity, with wealth managers boosting revenues by earning significant commission on trades. The product type to have the highest purchase content was Gilts, with 85% of the consideration of these bargains being buys.
