Broker shake-up as trading volumes soar - 26.06.2009
Financial Times
The FT published an article on the execution only sector, detailing the different charging structures of some of the key players, including Selftrade, Halifax Share Dealing and TD Waterhouse. Changes to charging structures have come as trading volumes have soared, leaving some investors unable to access their dealing platforms because of technical difficulties. ComPeer, the research company, said that online trading volumes were up 20% in the first quarter of 2009, compared with the previous three months, and 66% year on year, while pre-tax profit margins for non-advice companies remained high at 25%.
